Event Coverage ~ 2012 Grand National Roadster Show ~ Sunday

•January 30, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Sunday morning we headed straight to building four to shoot the cars in there before the crowds were let in. There was a lot of great contenders for the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) award and a lot of great booth cars. We saved this building for the last day so we could spend ample time in there.

We ran into our Tribal Gear friends ~ Johnny, Bobby, and Issac.

This Roadster has been driven a few miles!

Mark & Steven from Traffic CC came to hang out for the day. Don’t forget the Traffic Show is March 18th!

We had not made it over to the Mexican Village part of the fairgrounds all weekend so we walked over on Sunday afternoon and saw this beauty.

I still have another three or four days of photo posts so check back tomorrow for another post from the show.

Saturday we started our day in the Suede Palace at GNRS. Alex & Celeste do a great job every year with the Suede Palace. This year was no exception.

I happen to run into photographer Ed Fox. This is his Double Cab VW Bus. One of my favorites of the show.

Jose Barba from Premier CC had his 63 Impala “El Amo” out for the afternoon.

Sixty One Parkwood laying frame!

Two talented gentlemen ~ Mister Cartoon & Casey Zoltan of The Seventh Letter & Known Gallery.

The outside & grass area of the fairgrounds had some great vehicles parked around it during the day.

Bobby from Tribal Gear brought his truck to the show.

Sonny Boy paint work was on this motorcycle in one of the exhibit halls. He is one talented guy!

Day one at the 2012 Grand National Roadster show was a great one! The crowds are normally lighter on Friday because it is a work day but this year seemed to be a bit heavier. Thankfully with media credentials we can get into the show an hour before the doors open to get some shots. After the morning press conference we head straight to the buildings where the Lowriders were set up.

Jose from Imperials CC Los Angeles and his newly patterned Monte Carlo.

Rick Dore built this Lincoln Zephyr for Metallica’s James Hetfield. One word: Beautiful!

A trio of great guys. Fast Cracker Tom Foster, Steve Castillo (Owner of the sickest Harley out) and master painter Steve DeMan.

Steve’s Harley painted by Steve Deman and engraving by the super talented Hernan.

Albert G from Lifestyle was showing “Love Me Two Times” , his 64 Impala.

2011 Lowrider of the Year “El Rey” showing the masses what a rolling piece of art looks like.

Joey from Techniques CC Los Angeles. He took first in his class this weekend! Congrats!

Carlos from Cartel Ink. Thanks for the tee!

Albert aka DJ Xscape had his LoLo at the show!

Chop top 1959 Chevy Impala!

I’ll end this post with a fully restored Fuel Injected 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. Beautiful!

Set to release in a couple of days is the latest book/special issue from the publishers of Japan’s 38 Timez Magazine. I have been in contact with my friend Oryu who is the mastermind behind 38 Timez and these special issues and based on what he has shared with me I am pretty excited to see  this issue. If you have seen his previous releases, they are filled with a lot of great content so I know this will be filled with a lot of great content as well. This are highly sought after, extremely limited so if you have the chance to get your hands on one, I suggest you do. You will not regret it.

Event Coverage ~ Pirelli MX554 Product Launch and Meet & Greet ~ Dodger Stadium

•January 21, 2012 • Leave a Comment

The 2012 AMA Supercross Series is in full swing and this weekend the race is at Dodger Stadium. Yesterday afternoon Pirelli showcased their new motocross tires during a press event at Dodger Stadium. The event was held inside the Stadium Suite that overlooked the entire Supercross course. Pirelli riders James “Bubba” Stewart and Davi Millsaps made an appearance and spoke about competing with the new tires. The Pirelli team spoke about the technology that goes into creating a tire for the riders as well as the tires they create for the other types of racing they are involved in. It was pretty informative and I was surprised at how much technology goes into creating tires. With that being said, in my opinion the Pirelli riders have the most advance tires to compete with. The race is tonight and should be a good one. Best of luck to the Pirelli riders!

You cannot visit Dodger Stadium without having Dodger Dogs, Peanuts, Popcorn and Craker Jacks!

Ladies and Gentleman, Your Pirelli Team Riders ~ James “Bubba” Stewart and Davi Millsaps.

Here’s a shot of the track. They were covering it up because of the rain we had in LA this morning. Hopefully its not too muddy tonight.

Thanks to John, Emily, Victor and Jennifer from the ID Agency for the invite.

Sunday morning we were out in the Inland Empire area of Southern California for our second photo shoot of the weekend. Ben from Rollerz Only/Switch Happy Hydraulics drove up from the Coachella Valley so we could shoot his 1987 El Camino for Lowrider Magazine. Whenever we shoot in the IE, I call my good friend Mark Alcala from Traffic CC to find us a spot to shoot. Once again, Mark came through and found us the perfect back drop for Ben’s Elco. I’d like to thank Mark for his help and my nephew Steven for once again assisting Stephanie & I on the shoot. We had a great time shooting with Jessie Jett also and ended up with some great shots of her and the car. You’ll have to wait for the feature to publish to see those photos but here is one of Ben’s El Camino.

Celebration ~ Happy Birthday Dad

•January 16, 2012 • Leave a Comment

This morning the Bueno family will meet celebrate the birthday of my father Joe Bueno. Although he is no longer on this earth, we celebrate his birthday and honor his memory with a mass, breakfast and some time at his grave site. Even though it has been almost two years since he passed away, the pain we feel has still not gone away or lessen. We miss the man that led our family, cheered us on the most and offered the best advice ever. We love you JB, Papa Joe, and Dad.

Saturday morning we were out the door early and headed to Ontario California to meet up with Junior and the guys from Redemption Car Club. It was pretty cold but we all managed to get through the cold. Stephanie & our model for the day Sophia Jade captured some great shots of her with the car.  Look for a full feature on Junior’s car in a future issue of Lowrider Magazine. I was trying some new editing techniques on this photo. Let me know if you like them or not.
